Magic Circle Tutorial

This makes a tighter beginning round than when you begin with a round of chain stitches.    Take yarn and make a loop with end to the left and side closer to the ball crossing over it:

IMG_0639Take yarn around and through the circle and hook it:

IMG_0640You have made a Magic Circle!  Pull through, hold and ch 1:

Now begin a round of 5 sc by inserting hook into the magic circle:

Yarn over and continue with a single crochet by pulling the yarn through both loops on your hook.  Repeat 4 more times and join with slip st to make your first round:

It looks like the ch 3 round with 5 sc around it, as shown in this post:  http://wp.me/p51ZSQ-1f,  but it is much easier once you get the hang of it.
